Doberdò – Mountain Sei Busi – Ossuary Redipuglia
Starting from farm Kovac which is located in the centre of Doberdò just behind the church we understand how was the village before and in the course of the First World War. Nearby you can find the cemetery in memory of Austro-Hungarian soldiers of which remains only a great wall that remember us that here was buried many soldiers of the Empire.
After leaving the village on the left side we can see today’s cemetery, we start toward Redipuglia where is placed the famous Ossuary. The macadam route is just like hundred years ago. The route brings us toward an important place which we reach in thirty minutes of walk: Monte Sei Busi. Monte Sei Busi is formed by two altitudes: altitude 111 and altitude 118. During the war they were the Hungarian defensive points. From there we can see the village San Martino, Monte san Michele, the Monument to Filippo Corridoni. On the left side is located the Doberdò lake and the hollow of Jamiano. At the horizon is visible the mountain Hermada with the highest peak which had obstructed the advance of Italian soldiers toward Trieste.
Near we can find Ossuary Redipuglia a monumentally cemetery in memory of 100 soldiers as well as the Austro-Hungarian cemetery of Polazzo.
